Many believe in the future that natural birth of human babies will not be the norm, and although this might freak out religious folks, it does make logical sense. Not long ago, this topic came up at a think tank and the discussion became rather intriguing when one gentleman, Dimirti said matter of factly; ". . . and who said that children are going to be brought into this world through natural birth?"
Yes, this will most likely be the case and natural birth because it will be considered too risky may some day in the future be thought down upon, as it is not a controlled environment to insure no birth defects, that future Brave New World or Gatica Syndrome may actually take place, give it 100 years or so. It will be the norm.
Dimitri also suggested that in fact this could lower the population growth to nearly zero, essentially limiting the possibility of mankind out growing the planet, well that is to say if humans do not blow themselves up between now and then. And as far as birth trends dropping to zero; yes, this is also possible as the average life expectancy reaches 500 years, but imagine the possibilities for the forward progression of the species in that case.
Of course, this is all hypothetical due to the current climate of thought in the present period, as religious groups will be very upset with even the topic, much less the solutions that might be solved or created in such a scheme. So, for now the future of test tube babies is off-limits and well, we will not be discussing this much in public in the near future.
