Using nails
The nails may look simple things but in fact, there are dozens of different types, each tailored to a particular job. Know the right to use will help to ensure that their work is properly - and permanently.
Nailing is quick - no need to make elaborate preparations to do it - and nails are still the cheapest way to drag pieces of wood together. Unfortunately, a hammer and nails carpentry is often used as a pejorative term when used correctly actually, nails provide a perfectly healthy.
For example, there is nothing sloppy palisade nailed to a fence. Screws would be impractical, not only are more expensive and slower to use, but because they do not get a better job - the fence would certainly not last longer.
The nails are most frequencies associated with the wood, but are also standard as well as a number of jobs another specialist. Head size and shape can be matched with the job in hand, like the finish - but are made of mild steel wire, often coated to prevent theft, usually by electroplating or sherardizing.
Before purchasing any key, you must ask the following questions:
What Nail type I need?
This is governed by the materials are secured. For example, if you are doing a rought lumber or to work outdoor use round wire nails, wood, planed to be painted, thin oval wire nails would be a better option, and so on.
What size of the nail is what I want?
size of the nails is generally expressed as length. The length you choose is largely a matter criteria, but a rule of thumb is that the nail should be three times as long as the thickness of the wood fixing. The thickness of the nail is usually related to its length despite varying thickness is available. Thus check - you do not want a thin, thin nails if you think about fixing the joints, and equally, a think nails could divide thin panels.
How many do I need?
This governs how to buy the nails. If you only need a few then write a prepack probably the most convenient, but often the most expensive option. Otherwise the nails are usually sold in bulk and weight, this works much cheaper. But if you do the nails so remember to label and package the way they are kept clean, otherwise, soon corrode and can be tedious to classify the size once they have been mixed.
Of course, there are many different types of nails as a nail influence, a brad nail flooring and masonry. Do not worry though, they cover all soon in a future article.
In short a lot to use a hammer and a nail is common sense to a large extent not by land and stop thinking about work, before stepping into a big hammer. Remember the old adage of measure twice, cut once.
