Eyestrain means different things to different people. It can be experienced as burning, tightness, sharp pain, dull ache, watering, blurred vision, dry eyes, headaches, and other sensations, depending on the person.
If you have any eye discomfort caused by poor eyesight, you may call eyestrain.
Eye strain is caused by more than using one or more of the eye muscles when the eye is kept in one position for a long period of time. This is common for computer programmers, gamers and graphic designers in particular which often focus on a screen or part a screen for long periods of time.
Interestingly, the eye strain that occurs faster while focusing on close distances and distances long. Data entry users must be especially careful because the fast switching distances (eg to look back and forth between a piece of paper and a computer screen) can accelerate the onset of symptoms.
Some other common activities are responsible for strained eyes: reading, work craft fence (for example, needlework), television programs, and driving.
