I wrote a story about my mother when I lived in Germany. One of his friends became my e-mail a copy and took it. Next When my mom and I talked on the phone she said she was happy that I liked his stories. He said he sometimes wondered if he was interested in the stories.
I assured him I was and said it would be foolish not to want to hear some of the stories she told me. My mom turned 88 this year and she remains very strong. I explained that she is like a walking, talking history book of education and important for me to hear what he has to say. It is important that any of us to hear the stories of our parents and grandparents.
Times have changed. In an era in the history of our traditions, rituals, and good old stories were transmitted from generation to generation. Everyone likes a good story. Stories let us know what was the world at a time when we were not here. Stories inform and educate us and help us understand the times, cultures and people better.
It is important for young people to find their parents and grandparents to learn some of the traditions of their families and to help them learn the traditions that can perform when they have their own families.
Young people need to realize that older people like to talk about their experiences and about the past. It's a good thing for a young man to take the time to hear stories of someone who is older. Develops patience, knowledge, and a sense of history that would otherwise be difficult to capture. There are many walking, talking story books at our disposal if only take the time to ask that told a story.
I am thankful that my mom and dad always took time to talk about his previous life and things they have learned. It helped me understand things they way to become the people they were. It helped me to respect the sacrifice they made for me and love that was for me. I hope to tell my stories to the children who make a difference to them.
