When ordering prescription glasses or sunglasses on the internet, it is unlikely that you have face to face with your glasses, so it is imperative that the requirement you provide to them is correct.
If the numbers are correct, it is likely that you will not be able to see well with glasses that you will receive.
In If you can be sure of the numbers or signs written in your recipe should contact the sender to confirm the details before you try to order with any remote provider.
A prescription is usually written as:
R. -2.00 / -1.75 X 155
L. -2.00 / -2.75 X 155
The first figure that is set in a recipe is the power Sphere (SPH Short).
This is the main power of the prescription in the previous sign is very important when dealing with a minus sign represents a correction of myopia (Nearsightedness)
for example, -2.00,
and when it is a positive sign represents a correction of hyperopia (Longsight)
for example, 1.00.
Sometimes the prescription may be written with a DS after power Sphere
for example 1.00 DS.
The "DS" means diopters Sphere, which is the unit of measurement to show. More most cases the sign is not written DS.
The following picture you see is the cylinder power (CYL short). This represents the astigmatism in your prescription.
Often this figure shows like this-1.75cyl.
Astigmatic power is always along a certain angle (axis) 0 to 180 degrees
for example, -1.75 x 175.
Sometimes the field and cylinder powers can be separated by a slash.
R. means the right eye. (L., left). The right eye is always given first.
by example,
Rt 2.75 / -3.50 x 125 Lt 3.00 / -2.00 x 55
R. 2.50 / -1.00 x 180
L. 3.25 / -1.25 x 10
This recipe calls you are hyperopic (Longsight), besides having a small amount of astigmatism.
Reading prescription.
If single vision glasses that is required for distance or reading only, the prescription is written as mentioned above.
Sometimes prescription will be written with a power TDA after eg
R 2.50 / 2.00 -1.00 x 55 L / -2.00 x 35 ADD 2.50
This is more likely to happen if you are aged 45 or over.
This indicates that they are presbyopic (a reduced ability to focus on objects close to you.) This means that you need an additional power to help you read.
You may have presbyopia, as well as any of the above requirements, or may have presbyopia and distance vision just perfect.
In the example above, for the reading portion of the prescription of adding 2.50 to the sphere power
ie: R 5.00 / -1.00 x 55 L 4.50 / -2.00 x 35
When ordering bifocal or multifocal correction for distance vision, if the power with a food supplement for example,
Add 2.00 R -1.00/-1.25 x 55
L -1.50/-1.50 x 165 Add 2.00
If you only want the power of reading the above recipe, if you order a single vision reading glasses
again just add 2.00 to the power of Sphere.
In this example would be:
R (-1.00 add 2.00 = 1.00) => Path read 1.00 / -1.25 x 55
L (-1.50 add 2.00 = 0.50) => Lt. read 0.50 / -1.50 x 165
Full reading prescription would be:
R 1.00 / -1.25 x 55 L 0.50 / -1.50 X 165.
When ordering prescription glasses or prescription sunglasses make sure to enter the correct sign.
ie + (plus) or - (minus), also when ordering bifocals, be sure to include the power''
