There is something in a half-timbered house that conveys a warm and rustic. Even a modern large home still has that log cabin aura about it.
A real wood frame home has huge wooden beams with handcrafted interlocking joints devoid of nails. This technique is the construction thousands of years old, originating in North America is thanks to the1600 European migration. This was the accepted form of construction until the mid 19 when the beams were replaced with two fours and stick frame construction came to be.
The frame is assembled with a strong wooden beams, as Douglas fir or white pine, which are joined together with a "mortise" (the hole) and "spike" (the language), and together with oak pegs. The frame is then appended with insulation panels and 2x4 or 2x6 dotted the interior walls.
