Decorating pillow cases is a fun way to personalize your bed linens. Pillow cases can be embroidered, dyed and otherwise embellished. The easiest way to decorate a pillowcase is with fabric paint. Whether you plan to paint freehand, finger paint, sponge or stencil, your decorated pillowcase is a keepsake to treasure.
I first painted a pillowcase with my Mom when I was a little about 8 or 9 years old. We made it together and I loved it, that I sometimes make personalized hand-painted pillow cases for my nieces and nephews as a gift on their birthdays.
To start with, you should decide on the theme of the painting. Then, make rough sketches on a graph paper of the exact size. It is very easy to make, all you need to have handy with you are foam stamps, a paintbrush, of course, a plain pillowcase and fabric paint. Here are some easy instructions to get you started:
1.) Line the inside of the pillowcase with paper (magazines work great) to keep the paint from bleeding through the pillowcase.
2.) Use the paintbrush to apply a coat of paint to the stamp.
3.) Press the stamp firmly on to the pillowcase and gently lift it off.
4.) Repeat with as many stamps and colors of paint as you like.
5.) Allow to dry according to the directions on the paint.
Decorating a pillowcase is a great idea for a birthday party craft or for a girl scout meeting or even just for fun. You can decorate plain white pillowcases that you already have.
